Description
Oyster beds on the Bassin de Thau
We’ve put together a mixed dozen of four vivacious whites that come from vineyards on the edge of Bassin de Thau in the Mediterranean.
The Rolle is the best one we’ve tasted from this area in the past twenty years, the Viognier is a delicious example of this delicate variety, the dry Muscat is a fabulous explosion of flavour and a very well kept secret, while the Ô d’Yeuses is wonderful example of the winemaker’s skill when handling Chardonnay.
With this mixed case you can enjoy a great selection of contrasting styles and flavours!
A Mixed Dozen contains 3 bottles of each of –
Domaine des Lauriers, Rolle 2024
IGP d’Oc
Marc Cabrol makes some of the best Picpouls but equally enjoyable is this lovely Rolle.
Rolle is a traditional Mediterranean varietal, aka Vermentino, where in Italy flourishes in Sardinia and Tuscany.
Pale lemon in colour there is a mouthwatering nose of nectarines with floral undertones. On the palate there is concentrated, rich fruit with flavours of apple, apricot and honey, finishing with an aromatic, saline finish. Perfect with seafood, risottos and fish.
This is a grape variety to watch, as it represents fantastic quality for this price!
Domaine des Lauriers, Viognier 2024
IGP d’Oc
Marc Cabrol makes one of our favourite Viogniers, and the 2024 is no exception
There is a gorgeous nose of honeysuckle and apricots. It has a silky texture with the alluring flavour of apricots. It is rich without being oily and there is an aromatic twist at the finish with a twist of lemon zest acidity.
Beautifully balanced, it is great as an aperitif, even better with Thai or Chinese food. Try it with cheeses for a real surprise. Available elsewhere at £12.45!
Domaine les Yeuses, Muscat Petits Grains 2024
IGP d’Oc
Muscat à petits grains from this region is usually used for fortified sweet wine, but this bucks the trend. It is a fermented dry to produce a deliciously grapey wine.
There is a stunning nose of rose petals and lychees. The palate is bursting with the intense flavour of muscatel grapes, a hint of orange flower and Turkish Delight with a crisp, dry, aromatic finish and a long aftertaste.
It would be perfect with Chinese or Thai food. Or just enjoy in the garden as an aperitif!
Domaine les Yeuses, Ô d’Yeuses Blanc 2024
IGP d’Oc
This is a carefully crafted blend of mainly Chardonnay with a small amount of Viognier. The Chardonnay comes from a parcel of the oldest vines. Part is fermented in stainless steel and the rest aged in 1-2 year old oak barrels for seven months. The two parts are then blended, using a touch of Viognier to add complexity.
There is an inviting nose of white flowers with a hint of oak, which leads into a rich, juicy wine with great texture, a mineral finish and good length.
