From mountain vineyards at 900 metres altitude in the Rioja Baja, this Reserva has a long maceration, and spends 12 months in 60% American and 40% French oak. This is followed by 24 months in bottle. With an expensive fruity/oaky nose, it has gorgeous concentrated ripe damson and bramble fruit with hints of spice and orange peel, finishing with soft ripe tannins. Very long.
It combines classic Rioja with a touch of modernity. A perfect successor to the great 2010. Delicious now but will become softer and more complex over the next 5 years.
