Stéphane Montez has 23 hectares of vines in the prestigious appellation of Condrieu in the Northern Rhône. The grapes for this wine come from declassified younger vines in Condrieu and adjacent older vines from a granite terroir.
The results are stunning! There is a toasty nose of honeysuckle and apricot fruit which leads into a very concentrated mouthful of apricot/peach fruit with hints of spice and woodsmoke, supported by fresh gentle acidity. It finishes very long.
Delicious to savour on its own, perfect with soft cheeses and a match for oriental food.
This is a match for the fabled wines that come from Condrieu, but at a fraction of the price!
