Domaine Boutinot Cairanne Les Six 2019

So named as this is made from six grape varieties, some of the well known – Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre & Cinsault and a couple less so – Counoise & Carignan Noir.
The grapes are sourced from low-yielding vines from specially selected sites.  They are fermented in open-topped oak fermenters and then aged in oak barrels for up to 12 months. The idea is to express the terroir of the area and add complexity from traditional Rhône grape varieties that have fallen out of fashion.
The result is a deep purple wine with a beguiling nose of dark fruits and herbs.  On the palate, it is rich, concentrated and sumptuous, bursting with flavours of dark fruits, hints of liquorice and held together with soft, ripe balancing tannins.  It combines great complexity with easy drinkability!
