The vines for this rare white Rhône grow on the argilo-calcaire slopes that surround the pretty village of Cairanne.
It’s made from 70% Grenache Blanc, 20% Roussanne and 10% Clairette. The wine is fermented in a mixture of new and 4-year-old 300 and 400 litre oak barrels, and then aged for a further six months in small oak barrels.
On the nose there are fresh aromas of fruit and flowers with a hint of toasty oak. On the palate it has exotic fruit flavours of pineapple and peach with a touch of mango. There is an underlying spiciness and it finishes with good acidity and a mineral aftertaste.
This is comparable to a top white Châteauneuf-du-pape but a fraction of the price!
