From 6o-year-old bush vines, this Steen (aka Chenin Blanc) is from Breedekloof on the eastern border of Paarl. Very low yields and careful vinification using natural and selected yeasts in old oak barrels, followed by barrel ageing for 8 months produce stunning results.
On the nose there is lemon and straw, hints of wet stone, mango and spice. On the palate it is very concentrated with intense yet restrained mango, apple and green plum fruit balanced by taut acidity and great length. A stunner!
