A Pair of Refreshing Whites from Château Jouclary

£59.10

Pascal Gianesini is the current vigneron in this family-run 60 hectare vineyard in the Cabardès region near Carcassonne.  We have shipped his wines for over 15 years and his wines are one of the great secrets of the Languedoc – appreciated and raved about by wine professionals in the know but still hard to obtain in the UK.  In the current market they represent fantastic value for wines that are ready to drink now, yet with great individuality and the potential to age. These two whites are a great example of his skill as a winemaker, capturing the freshness of the fruit while highlighting the varietal character of the grapes.

A Mixed Half-Dozen of 3 bottles of each of:
Domaine Jouclary Grenache Gris 2021  –  £9.75

Description

Domaine Jouclary Grenache Gris 2021
IGP Pays d’Oc
Grenache Gris is a pale-skinned mutation of Grenache Noir and in this region its principal use was in the rich sweet idiosyncratic traditional wines, known as Vin Doux Naturel.  Pascal has swept tradition aside by keeping the yields low and carefully vinifying it to produce a delicious and intriguing new style of dry white wine.
Pale lemon in colour, it has stone fruit nose with a hint of lemon.  On the palate it is very fruity with flavours of peach and mango, leading into almond and marzipan, and finishing with a twist of lime zest and very good length.
This is an intriguing and complex white wine which is deliciously easy to quaff!

Domaine Jouclary Viognier 2021
IGP Pays d’Oc
Of the  many Viogniers we tasted this year, Pascal’s was our favourite!
Pale lemon in colour with a beautiful nose of honeysuckle and apricots. There is nice concentration on the palate with lovely mouthfeel, flavours of apricots and lychees, gentle balancing acidity and good length. Fabulous stuff!
This is an elegant style of Viognier, and will go well with Sushi and Chinese food, or just enjoy it on it’s own!
